दो शिक्षित व्यक्ति

The Two Learned Men

Once there lived in the ancient city of Afkar two learned men who hated and belittled each other’s learning.  For one of them denied the existence of the gods and the other was a believer.

One day the two met in the marketplace, and amidst their followers they began to dispute and to argue about the existence or the non-existence of the gods.  And after hours of contention they parted.

That evening the unbeliever went to the temple and prostrated himself before the altar and prayed the gods to forgive his wayward past.

And the same hour the other learned man, he who had upheld the gods, burned his sacred books.  For he had become an unbeliever.

दो शिक्षित व्यक्ति

एक बार अफ़कार नामक प्राचीन शहर में दो शिक्षित व्यक्ति रहते थे, जो एक दूसरे की शिक्षा से घृणा करते थे और उसका अपमान करते थे. क्योंकि उनमें से एक ईश्वर के अस्तित्व को नकारता था और दूसरा मानता था. 

एक दिन वे दोनों बाज़ार में मिले और अपने अनुयायियों के बीच झगड़ने लगे और ईश्वर के होने या न होने पर विवाद करने लगे. कई घंटों के वाकयुद्ध के बाद वे पृथक हुए. 

उस शाम नास्तिक मंदिर में गया और उसने मूर्ति के समक्ष दंडवत प्रणाम किया और देवताओं से प्रार्थना की कि वे उसके अतीत के पथ भ्रष्ट जीवन के लिए उसे क्षमा कर दें.

और उसी घड़ी में दूसरा शिक्षित व्यक्ति जो देवताओं का समर्थन करता था, उसने अपनी पवित्र पुस्तकें जला दी क्योंकि वह एक नास्तिक हो गया था.
